Fact Sheet

The Treasure Coast Builders Association is a professional association of over 1100 members that represents and protects the interests of the building industry in Florida's Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River counties. Membership is comprised of builders, developers, sub-contractors, suppliers, lenders, architects, realtors, and manufacturers who are dedicated to building stature and respect for the industry in the community.

TCBA is dedicated to serving its members by:

  • Providing leadership in the building industry;
  • Creating a unified front to achieve greater integrity and competency; and
  • Promoting a better business industry for the community.

TCBA’s governmental affairs activities are designed to promote and protect homeownership opportunities throughout the Treasure Coast. Activities include monitoring local public policies on housing; taking the industry’s story to the public through the media and other outlets; and providing education and training to members. In addition to its legislative initiatives, TCBA also works with county agencies on regulations affecting the housing industry in areas such as codes, energy and the environment, emergency management, and housing finance.

TCBA’s annual exposition, the BUILDERS EXPO AND HOME SHOW is the Treasure Coast’s largest regional building products showcase, attracting thousands of attendees and hundreds of exhibitors each year.

TCBA promotes construction training through its Carpentry Framer Program, a partnership with Indian River Community College, as well as through partnerships with the National Association of Home Builders, the Home Builders Institute, the Florida Home Builders Association, and regional workforce boards.

TCBA promotes education through a scholarship, its Builders & Books program, and Homes of our Own.

  • The TCBA Scholarship is open to any Indian River Community College (IRCC) bound student pursing a degree in A/C, Refrigeration, & Heating Tech; Architectural Design and Construction Tech; Building Construction; or Drafting/Design Tech; or Business related field. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and be related to a member or employed by a member of the Treasure Coast Builders Association and be residents of Indian River, Martin or St. Lucie County. • Builders and Books, a partnership between TCBA and Big Brothers Big Sisters, provides funding and mentors for children in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties. It’s one of the ways that local builders give back to their communities. Funds and time contributed by TCBA members help students with reading, writing and arithmetic. The program helps build a better tomorrow for Treasure Coast children. The program was founded in 2003, and in its first year, 35-plus donors contributed over $20,000 dollars.
  • Since 1996, Homes of our Own has built one “outdoor classroom” at a school on the Treasure Coast. All materials and time are donated by TCBA members. The program is modeled after a national program and consists of a video, coloring and activity books, discussion guide, tree planting guide and more that teaches elementary school students about the home building process and tree preservation. It’s also a fun way to show children how what they learn in their math and science classrooms is put to practical use. For a list of Home of Our Own classrooms, visit the Education and Outreach section.

TCBA keeps members abreast of important industry news through its monthly Builder News newspaper, and offers a variety of home building information to its members and the public on its website.

TCBA’s annual awards programs recognize excellence and outstanding achievements within the home building industry. The MEDALLION Awards recognize exceptional builders, marketing, architects and interior design professions. The competition draws entries from the Treasure Coast and culminates at an awards dinner in October. Please visit the MEDALLION AWARDS section for additional information.

The Eagle Awards honors those who have made significant and lasting contributions to the construction industry. For more details, CLICK HERE.

The Treasure Coast Memorial Weekend Fishing Tournament has been a Treasure Coast tradition since 1994. It is a two-day fishing extravaganza that attracts hundreds of boats and anglers who compete for more than $750,000 in cash and prizes.

Each year a portion of proceeds are given to a deserving non-profit. The 2004 recipient was the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Dolphin Research Program.

Every spring for ten days, the public is invited to preview the Treasure Coast’s finest model homes. The TCBA Parade of Homes offers something for everyone and includes affordable housing, estate homes, luxury residences, and everything in-between.

In addition to showcasing their best homes, builders who enter models in the TCBA Parade of Homes also compete for awards. One, the Peoples Choice Award, is voted on by the viewing public. Platinum, Gold and Silver honors are also given in eighteen categories and these awards are judged by out-of-area professional builders, architects and interior designers. An Energy Efficiency Award, judged by Florida Power and Light, is also given. All Platinum winners become eligible to win the Grand Award, which is given at an awards banquet following the Parade.
